The `L` shaped structure of the house protects the south facade and pool terrace from the prevailing northern winter winds. The deep cantilevers and sunshades were designed to allow warm sunshine in the winter and long, cool shadows in the summer. All rooms and activities face towards the garden. The long swimming pool is in between an al fresco barbecue dining area to the west and a sitting outdoor area and pergola to the east.
