WORKSPACE

Commissioned in 1995 by a rapidly growing ship management company, this building was designed to complement the existing office structure built four years earlier while introducing a modern, efficient approach to office layout. The external envelope of the new building follows the same morphology as the original, ensuring continuity in the architectural language and maintaining a cohesive visual identity between the two structures.

Internally, however, the design departs from traditional office layouts. A striking feature of the building is the introduction of internal bridges that connect the old and new buildings. These bridges pass through a glazed, greenhouse-like winter garden, acting as a central, airy space that facilitates movement between the two areas while providing a pleasant, natural environment for employees.

The interior design emphasizes the use of wood and clean lines, a deliberate nod to the "shipshape" order found on ocean liners. This aesthetic not only reinforces the maritime connections of the company but also promotes a sense of organization and discipline within the office spaces. The use of wood evokes warmth and natural beauty, while the minimalist design creates a sense of clarity and purpose, offering an environment conducive to productivity and collaboration.

This building successfully integrates functional office spaces with design elements that reflect the identity and ethos of the ship management company, creating a workspace that is both practical and deeply connected to the company’s maritime heritage.
