Columbia Retreat
PISSOURI BAY - CYPRUS
HOTELS & RESORTS
The project involves the development of a new hospitality unit within the established Columbia resort complex in Pissouri Bay. The client’s involvement in the area began with the renovation of the original Columbia Beach Hotel in 1987, followed by the successful addition of the Columbia Beach Resort. The current phase continues this legacy through the thoughtful development of an adjacent 110,000 sq.m. site.
Conceived to accommodate both leisure and business tourism, the new resort is designed with a particular emphasis on hosting high-quality conferences and corporate events. The architecture respects and complements the existing design language of the nearby hotels, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic across the wider resort.
The main building is accompanied by a series of guest villas and suites, arranged to take advantage of the site’s natural topography and provide sea views from most units. The project also includes new internal roads, a linear park along the northern boundary, a seafront promenade, and landscaped gardens with terraced swimming pools.
A key feature of the resort is its flexible conference facility located within the lower levels of the main building. Designed as an open-plan space that can be subdivided into smaller rooms, it is supported by a discreet back-of-house circulation route with dedicated kitchens and banqueting services.
Once completed, the new development will add approximately 300 beds to the existing 500 available across the Columbia Beach Hotel and Columbia Beach Resort, enhancing the site’s capacity while maintaining a focus on quality and integration with the surrounding environment.
