Pokeloha is a compact street food concept developed as part of a completed project at Columbia Plaza. Drawing subtle inspiration from Hawaiian culture, the design reflects a relaxed and informal dining experience influenced by surf culture, marine themes, and Pacific-inspired cuisine.
The interior layout is organized around a sweeping laminate bar that anchors the space. This gently curved feature defines the customer flow, subtly echoing the natural forms of waves and coastal landscapes. Functionally, it also serves to conceal kitchen equipment and refrigeration units from guest view, maintaining a clean and visually cohesive dining area.
A tropical design language is conveyed through the use of flexible exotic wood laminates and warm material finishes. These elements introduce a tactile richness and reinforce the informal, beachside ambiance. The atmosphere is further enhanced by a restrained use of aviation and nautical references—visible in select furnishings, hardware, and lighting fixtures—that allude to Hawaii’s historic ties to air travel and the ocean, without becoming overly thematic.
The design strives to balance character and functionality within a limited footprint. It offers a setting that is both inviting and efficient, allowing the focus to remain on the culinary experience while subtly supporting the brand’s narrative. Through thoughtful detailing and careful material selection, Pokeloha provides a unique yet understated architectural identity that complements the dynamic food offering.
