This project involved the seamless integration of two adjacent apartments into a single duplex penthouse in a prime seafront location in Limassol. The client’s vision was to create a holiday residence for his family that could be enjoyed during their visits to the island, whether for business or leisure.
During our initial discussions, it became clear that the client’s true benchmark for luxury was their superyacht—a space where they spent much of their time and which they considered the epitome of high-end interior design. With this inspiration in mind and an open design brief, we set ourselves the challenge of translating the essence of a superyacht’s refined elegance into a land-based living experience.
Drawing from yacht design principles, we focused on creating a seamless spatial flow between the private bedroom suites and the open-plan living and entertainment areas. This ensures a functional yet elegant layout that enhances the overall sense of space and comfort. Floor to ceiling glass openings frame the panoramic sea views, reinforcing the connection between interior and exterior, much like the uninterrupted vistas experienced on a yacht.
High-gloss wood finishes, detailed wood panelling, and fabric-covered walls and doors were used throughout the penthouse, adding warmth and a refined aesthetic reminiscent of a luxury superyacht.
All soft and hard furnishings were custom-designed in collaboration with Thesis Interior Design Showrooms, including bespoke carpets, a five-meter solid teak dining table, and tailored bar units and consoles with integrated lighting.
A circular central chandelier by Swarovski anchors the space, adding a harmonious blend of form and function while complementing the overall yacht design narrative.
The 'upper deck'—a roof terrace designed as the penthouse’s dedicated sun deck—is seamlessly connected to the main living area via an outdoor stainless steel staircase. Designed to be visually lightweight with fine detailing, the staircase minimizes obstruction to the spectacular sea views while maintaining a sleek, modern aesthetic.
This elevated outdoor space is designed for both relaxation and entertaining, featuring a BBQ area, a bar with dining facilities, a secondary kitchen, multiple dining zones, and sun lounge areas, all unified beneath a custom-designed steel pergola structure that provides shade while maintaining an open, airy feel.
At the heart of the layout is a jacuzzi, elegantly integrated into a bespoke teak deck unit. The jacuzzi features a state-of-the-art solid teak cover that opens effortlessly at the push of a button. Every functional component—hinges, pulleys, bearings, and mechanical elements—was meticulously designed by Vakis Associates and expertly crafted by our team of skilled metalworkers, ensuring precision engineering and flawless execution.
